Airborne surveillance and new sampling strategies of surface algal blooms in the Dutch part of the North Sea

This paper describes shortly the results of a longterm monitoring programme of surface algal blooms by air surveys, and the possible factors that determine the scale and frequency of their occurrence. A new sampling strategy for surface algal blooms is also presented.
